The Midas touch of the fine actors
The cast is as dynamic
as the movie. Kavin Hart plays Teddy, the protagonist. Keith David plays the
role of Gerald Walker. Loretta Devine plays Carole Walker. Both Gerald and
Carole are Teddy's parents. The beautiful Megalyn Echikunwoke plays Lisa, Ted's
betrothed. Tiffany Haddish dominates the comedy as the night school instructor.
Her strong personality and determined demeanor overawe and inspire the
heterogeneous group at the same time. Tiffany definitely deserves a standing
ovation for the sterling performance of a teacher coming up with the malicious
and mischevious middle-aged students. Taran Killam plays the stringent
principal, Stewart Paterson to the hilt. Mary Lynn showcases a lot of talent as
she portrays the overworked and harried middle-aged mom.
The adult brats
The story starts with
the sight of Piedmont school. The night school comes with all the facilities
and the stern staff. Carrie is a strict teacher who will tolerate any nonsense.
Stewart, the principal is a strict disciplinarian who ensures that the ‘adult ‘wards
don't take everything for granted. But hell breaks loose when Ted enrolls at
their school. He is not only mischevious but also creates a ruckus in his class
with his antics. Carrie has a tough time controlling Ted. She is equally
challenged by other brattish 30-plus so-called adults who let loose their
demons at the nocturnal training sessions. One thing leads to another and the
course progresses with a series of volatile incidents. Ted is the main
character and the main troublemaker of the class. Carrie finds herself at her
tether's end over the course of the time. Finally, the students engage in
achieving their academic aspirations as they settle down after creating a lot
of scenes.
Ted the hero
Ted has a steady job as
a restaurant mascot. But certainly, people find his job funny. Nevertheless,the
amount that he earns is not so funny. His parents, Gerald and Carole truly care
for him. His beautiful fiancé Lisa quite loves and they spend their time with
each other blissfully. While Ted's personal life is doing well, his
professional life is not doing so great. One fine day, he finally realizes that
it's not funny to continue in this funny job forever. He must hone his talent
and further his education if he wants a better income and a decent life. The
decision to join a night school takes shape and Ted experiences what the world
usually calls going back to school. Ted's journey starts on a devastating note
as he and his teacher are often at loggerheads in a funny way. Eons of
disastrous incidents later, it remains to be seen whether he finally achieves
his aspirations or not.
